About the project

Power Trip is a media collective making hyperlocal content about where power lies in Los Angeles, how it has failed us, and how the young working class can take it back.

We're not video essayists. We're community journalists, out in the field, showing, not telling. Every episode starts with a real problem people in LA deal with and ends with what we can do about it. Along the way we show you how we dug up the facts, so you can do it too.

Every episode asks three questions

  1. 01Act 1

    What's really going on?

    We pick a problem LA lives with every day, then follow the money and the power to see how we got here, and who wins by keeping it this way.

  2. 02Act 2

    What could it look like if we had the power?

    With AR, drawings, models and animation, we show the LA we could actually have.

  3. 03Act 3

    How do we get the power?

    We roll with the people already doing the work, and show you how to plug in, push for change, and keep learning.

Our mission

“We want to build class consciousness to fight for climate justice in Los Angeles.”
Power and money have worked against working people in LA for a long time. We show how that happened so we can make it work for us instead. That's the hope, and we mean it.
